Short Named Big 12 Goalie of the Week - University of Oklahoma - Soonersports.com

NORMAN — University of Oklahoma soccer senior goalie Makinzie Short was named the conference goalkeeper of the week, the Big 12 announced the weekly awards Tuesday.

In Oklahoma's two games last week, Short combined for 12 saves, including a career-best 10 stops in Sunday's match at Nebraska.

Short played all 90 minutes in net for the Sooners in both of OU's opening-weekend matches, recording a pair of saves in the Sooners' draw with Houston last Thursday before her career performance in Lincoln on Sunday.

The senior keeper paces the conference after week one of competition with her 12 stops, five better than the next-closest Big 12 goalie. Her 6.0 saves-per-game average ranks second in the conference.

Short and the Sooners return to John Crain Field in Norman on Thursday for a matchup with No. 8 Arkansas at 7 p.m. CT. Tickets to the game are still available via SoonerSports.com/tickets and game promotions including a "whiteout" for fans, a petting zoo and a bounce house for kids in attendance. The game can be seen on SoonerVision on ESPN+.
